Function of Dental Therapist Registration Board of Nigeria
Part 1 section 1, subsection 2a-b of the enabling decree mandates the Board to: –
Determine the standards of knowledge and skill to be attained by persons seeking to become registered members of the Board.
Establish and maintain a register for Dental Therapists, Dental Nurses, Dental Health Technicians and Dental Surgery Assistants.
Conduct Examinations and Award of Certificates.
Conduct Continuing Health Development Programmes for members
Promote Oral Health.
Perform other functions deemed necessary for the practice of Dental Health Personnel.
Enforce professional ethics.
Other functions includes and not limited to: Indexing of Students, Registration and Licencing of Professionals e.t.c
Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria Profession Examination
Examination Department – This department is one of the major departments of the Board.
It is saddle with the responsibility of conducting professional examinations and awarding certificates to successful candidates that are seeking to become members of the following professions under the supervision of the Board.
Requirements to Qualify for Professional Examinations
A. Dental Therapists
B. Dental Surgery Technicians
C. Dental Nurses
D. Dental Surgery Assistants.
Professional Dental Therapist Exam Questions
- DENTAL THERAPISTS
a. Evidence of one year (1) Internship Program with completed and duly signed log book and internship form.
b. Candidates must have spent at least a year after graduation from health training institutions that is, the Period of Internship.
c. Duly filed and signed examination forms.
d. Four (4) Passport Photographs with names written at the back.
e. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination(SSCE) result. All interested applicants/candidates must make atleast 5 Credits in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,either in WAEC, NECO and NABTEB in not more than 2 sittings.
f. Notification of result from Training Schools
g. Clinical Coats and Instrument (Scalars).
h. Examination Fee: Candidates must have duly paid for examination fee which is subject to review
Professional Dental Surgery Technicians Exam Questions
- DENTAL SURGERY TECHNICIANS
a. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination(SSCE) result. All interested applicants/candidates must make atleast 5 Credits in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,either in WAEC , NECO and NABTEB in not more than 2 sittings.
b. Dully filled examination forms
c. 3 Passport photographs with their names written overleaf
d. Testimonial or To Whom It May Concern
e. Clinical Coats or school uniforms
f. Examination Fee : Candidates must have duly paid for examination fee which is subject to review
Professional Dental Nurses Exam Questions
- DENTAL NURSES
a. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination(SSCE) result. All interested applicants/candidates must make atleast 5 Credits in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,either in WAEC , NECO and NABTEB in not more than 2 sittings.
b. Duly filled examination forms
c. 3 Passport photographs with their names written overleaf
d. Testimonial or To Whom It May Concern
e. Clinical Coats or school uniforms

Professional Dental Surgery Assistants Exam Questions
- DENTAL SURGERY ASSISTANTS
a. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination(SSCE) result. All interested applicants/candidates must make atleast 5 Credits in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,either in WAEC , NECO and NABTEB in not more than 2 sittings.
b. Duly filled examination forms
c. 3 Passport photographs with their names written overleaf

N.B:
All candidates/ applicants must produce photocopies of their result and marriage certificates where the need be.
Candidates are advised to write their names on the form as they would want it to appear on the professional certificates and license.
For resit and repeat candidates:
Candidates with one deficiency shall resit the paper
Candidates with two or more deficiency shall repeat the examination
Please note:
Repeat Candidate: A candidate who fails two (2) or more papers.
Resit Candidate: A candidate who fails one (1) Paper
