DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION INTO PROGRAMMES AND POST-UTME
SCREENING AND ENTRANCE EXAMINATION INTO ND AND PRE-ND PROGRAMMES FOR 2015/2016
ACADEMIC SESSION
The Air Force Institute of Technology is a higher education
institution engaged in imparting knowledge-, skill and learning to students
using specialised facilities and multi disciplinary approach; a centre of
excellence for serious innovative research and development for the aerospace,
aeronautical, aviation and allied Industries/disciplines.
Admission into programmes offered in the Institute are open
to the general public. Traditionally, admission into the Institute is gained
through the JAMB UTME entry route.
However, admissions could also be gained through direct
entry into any of the Institute’s programmes other than the National Diploma
programmes. To this end, applications are invited from suitable qualified
candidates for preliminary and direct entry admissions into the following
programmes in the 2015/2016 Academic Session:
Pre
-National Diploma (Pre -ND) Science and Technology.
Pre
-Higher National Diploma (Pre -HND) Programmes:
  • Aircraft
    Engineering Technology (Airframe/Power Plant Option).
  • Aircraft
    Engineering Technology (Avionics Option).
  • Electrical/Electronics
    Engineering Technology.
  • Purchasing
    and Supply.
Higher
National Diploma (HND) Programmes:
  • Aircraft
    Engineering Technology (Airframe/Power Plant Option).
  • Aircraft
    Engineering Technology (Avionics Option).
  • Electrical/Electronics
    Engineering Technology.
  • Purchasing
    and Supply.
Post
Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes:
  • Aerospace
    Engineering (Aeromechanical Option).
  • Aerospace
    Engineering (Avionics Option).
  • Supply
    Chain Management.
The Pre -ND in Science and Technology is a one year
preparatory course which aims to assist candidate attain the requirements for
admission into engineering related ND programmes at the Institute,
The Pre – HND in Aircraft Engineering Technology Programme,
on the other hand, is a one year orientation course specifically designed for
candidates with ND
in engineering fields other than aircraft engineering. The
programme is meant to introduce students to aircraft engineering and also
provide a good foundation for such students to further their studies in
aviation related programmes.
The PGD in Aerospace Engineering at AFIT is a one -year
programme that is specially designed to prepare candidates for one – year MSc
programme in aerospace engineering at Cranfield University,
United Kingdom (UK).
Candidates, who on completion of the PGD programme, wish to enrol for the
Masters’ Programme at Cranfield
University, UK
can
choose to specialize in one of the following fields:
MSc Aerospace Vehicle Design (Avionics Systems Design
Option).
MSc Thermal Power.
MSc Computation Fluid Dynamics.
MSc Flight Dynamics.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Candidates seeking admission into AFIT’s Pre-National
Diploma (Pre-ND) and ND programmes are to write an entrance examination. Those
intending to pursue Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre -HND), Higher National
Diploma (HND) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes would be offered direct
entry admission if they meet the entry requirements. The entry qualifications
for programmes offered in AFIT are as detailed below:
Pre -National Diploma
(Pre -ND) Science and Technology.
Pass in entrance examination and;
Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with at least a
pass in English Language and credit passes in 3 subjects in not more than 2
sittings. The subjects must include mathematics, physics or chemistry and one
other subject from additional mathematics, statistics, technical drawing,
woodwork and metalwork.
Pre-Higher National
Diploma (Pre-HND) Programmes.
ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/|Electronics
Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Material
Science Engineering or Business Administration and Management (as applicable)
and;
A Minimum of one year post -ND cognate work experience.
In exceptional cases, a candidate with ND at pass level
(CGPA of 2,0 2.49) who has 2 or more years of post – ND cognate work experience
may be considered for admission into the Pre -HND programme.
National Diploma (ND)
Programme – Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical
Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronics
Engineering Technology and Explosive Ordnance Technology:
  • JAMB
    UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFITs post -JAMB UTME screening test
    and;
  • Minimum
    of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with at least a pass in English Language
    and credit passes in 5 subjects in not more than 2 sittings. The subjects
    must include Mathematics , Physic, Chemistry and 2 other subjects from
    Additional Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Statistics, Technical Drawing,
    Auto -Mechanics And Metal Work or



National Diploma (ND)
Programme-Business Administration and Management:
  • JAMB
    UTME cut-off pa s s mark and pass in AFITs post -JAMB UTME screening test
    and;
  • Candidates
    should possess a Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with 5 credit
    passes in English Language, mathematics and 3 other subjects from Economic/Commerce,
    Business Methods, Principles Of Accounts, Statistics, Geography,
    Agricultural Science, Government And Biology or,
  • Credit
    passes in an NBTE recognized Pre -ND examination in English Language,
    Mathematics and 3 other relevant subjects listed in Paragraph 5 d(2) above
    .
Higher National
Diploma (HND) Programmes.
  • ND
    with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in Mechanical
    Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering,
    Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Material Science
    Engineering or Business Administration and Management (as applicable) and;
  • A
    Minimum of one year post -ND cognate work experience.
Post Graduate Diploma
(PGD) Programmes in Aerospace Engineering.          
  • A minimum grade of Second Class
    Honours i n Engineering, Material Sciences or Physics.
Post Graduate Diploma
(PGD) Programmes in Supply Chain Management.
  • A
    minimum grade of Second Class Honours in Purchasing & Supply and other
    related fields,
MODE OF APPLICATION
FOR ND/PRE – ND / POST-UTME CANDIDATES
  • For
    a successful application, candidates are expected to complete two basic
    registration processes as explained below:
      Payment
to e-Transact
      Post
UTME Bio -Data Registration
Candidates should visit any branch of commercial bank and
make payment of the sum
of N4,000.00 only less bank charges into the e-tranzact
account for AFIT Post – UTME. There is no account no, applicants should simply
ask for E-TRANZACT -Post UTME AFIT
account. After payment, the bank teller would give a print-out which will be
needed to proceed with online registration. In the print -out, there are two
numbers namely:
Receipt No;
Confirmation No:
Applicants are expected to login into the AFIT -Web site ( http://www.afit.edu.ng
), Click on the AFIT POST UTME 2015 Link . Insert the RECEIPT and CONFIRMATION
Nos from the Bank to gain access into the registration portal.
Complete the Bio Data page and begin registration.
Applicants, after completing the Step above, would proceed
to Registration Page to begin data entry on the online form. Data such as Bio
information, Results, JAMB Score etc
will be filled. On completion, the applicant will be
required to upload his/her passport photograph which should not be more than
1MB in size. The size of such uploaded picture will be validated against this
requirement, candidate should therefore take note.
After a successful upload the picture, the applicant should
proceed to print the photo Card. The photo – card would carry the applicant’s
basic identity information and the card will be required for entry into the
exam hall on the exam day
MODE OF APPLICATION
FOR DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES
For a successful application, candidates are expected to
complete two basic steps below:
Payment toe -Transact
On-line registration
Candidates should visit any branch of commercial bank and
make payment. Pre-HND and HND/PGD candidates are to pay N4, 000.00 and N5,
000.00 respectively less bank charges. There is no account No, applicants
should simply ask for E -Transact Pre -HND or HND or PGD account as the case
may be. After payment, the bank teller would give a print-out which will be
needed to proceed with online registration. In the print -out, there are two
numbers namely:
Receipt No;
Confirmation No:
Visit AFIT Website on http://www.afit.edu.ng and click on
Direct Entry Registration Link. Kindly select the appropriation application
form applicable to you (Pre -HND, HND, or PGD). Insert the Receipt No and
Confirmation No from the bank.
On the registration Form, fill in your bio-data and other
relevant information (post secondary information, employment history) as seen
on the page and dick on continue (Note: your phone number is your identity on
the portage kindly provide a valid phone number).
Upload your necessary documents e.g OND Certificates etc and
your passport photograph as seen on the page. Click on continue to print an
acknowledge copy of your successful application. For further enquiry, you may

DATE OF EXAMINATION FOR POST -UTME /PRE -ND CANDIDATES
All candidates intending to pursue the Pre-ND and ND
programmes in AFIT, are to prepare to write entrance examination and Post -UTME
respectively on the same date.
Details of venue and timings are as follows:
Date:
Saturday 15 August 2015.
Venue:
AFITs premises at the Nigerian Air Force Base Kaduna. Time: Sam prompt
(Please note that lateness will not be
tolerated).
All candidates intending to participate in the post -UTME
screening exercise and the AFIT Entrance Examination are to come along with
necessary materials such as biros, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers and
electronic calculators. The Institute will, however, provide the examination
booklets for all candidates. All candidates are to note that the use of mobile
telephones and other such communication devices will not be allowed inside the
examination hall, even for the purpose of calculating.
