ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES FOR 2015/2016 ACADEMIC SESSION
We
invite qualified candidates to apply for admission into the various Bachelors
Degree Programmes of our Institute for Continuing Education Programme (ICEP)
for the 2015/2016 academic session.
A.        General Eligibility and Entry Requirements
1             
Only
candidates who took the 2015/2016 UTME Examination, scored not less than 180
and chose Imo State University
are eligible to apply. Such candidates must possess at least five credits in SSCC,
WASC, NECO, NABTEB obtained in not more than two sittings or any other certificate
recognized by the University.
2             
Candidates
with good A, level results, NCE, OND or HND with less than 9 points may be admitted
into the Direct Entry Programmes, in their area of specialization.
3             
HND
Holders with 9 points and above shall be admitted into the 3rd year of the
programme (Teaching practice result does not form part of the points).
4             
In
addition to these general requirements, candidates must meet, up with the Departmental
requirements in their programme of choice.
B         Entry Requirements for courses offered in the Faculty of
Education:
           
1.
B.Sc. Accountancy
Credit pass in English Language,
Mathematics and Economics and two (2) others.                        
2.
Edu/Economics
Same as Edu/Accountancy
3.
Edu/Government
Credit pas In English Language,
Mathematics, Government or History and two (2) others
4.
Edu/Social Studies
Credit pass in English Language arid
any of Government, History or Social Studies.
5.
Edu/library Science
Five (5) Olevel credit pass in English
Language Mathematics and (3) other relevant: subjects.
6.
Edu/English Studies
Credit pass in English language,
literature in English and (3) other relevant subject
7
Edu/History
Five (5) O’level credit passes in
English Language, Government or History and three (3) Others
8
Edu/Religion
Five (5) O’level credit passes in
English Language, CRK and three (3) others


C. Entry Requirements for Degree
Programmes in the following Disciplines
5.
B.Sc, Accountancy, Banking and
Finance, Economic, Management, Marketing,
Credit pass in five subjects including
English language, Mathematics, Economics, and 2 others.
6.
B.Sc.  Sociology/Anthropology:
Credit pass in five ordinary level subjects
Including English language, Government/History and at least a pass In Mathematics.
7.
B.Sc. Psychology:
Credit pass in five subjects including
English
Language, Biology/Health Science plus
at least a credit in Mathematics.
8.
B.Sc. Government/Public
Administration:
Credit pass in five subjects including
English Language, Mathematics, Government or History and 2 Others.
9.
B.Sc. Mass Communication:
Credit pass in five subjects inducing
English Language, Mathematics,’
English Literature and 2 others.
10.
English Language & Literature:
Credit pass in five WASC. SSCE/GCE,
Olevel subjects including English
Language, English Literature and any other three subjects.

Linguistics/Igbo:
Five credit passes at the WASC, SSCE
or GCE
O’levei inducing English Language and
Igbo Language.
A level pass in two subjects Including
Igbo or
Igbo combination with merit level pas;.
12.
B. A. History/International Studies;
Credit pass in five subjects including
English Language,’ Mathematics,
Government or History and 2 others.
Method of Application
Candidates
are required to fill the Application Forms on-line in the University website,
http:imsu.edu.ng Access to the website will be granted through the purchase of
a scratch card sold at the cost of six thousand, five hundred (N6.500) only at
IM5U Micro Finance Bank.
Special Notes:
Candidates
must ensure that their names and the order in which they appear in the ICEP
Register for sale of Application forms correspond with what they fill in the
online Application Forms.
In other
words, candidate’s names must appear in the same order in the online Application
Form, envelope, receipts, ICEP sale of forms record book, etc.
This is the order to be used in processing certificates and other documents.
Application for change of name shall not be entertained after admission.
Submission of Completed Online
Application Forms
Candidates
shall re-turn all duly completed Application forms along with one self addressed
and stamped envelope measuring 22cm x 10cm and certified photocopies of academic
and professional qualifications to:

Candidates
must indicate the intended course of study at the bottom left corner of the envelope.
For example:
“B.Sc. Accountancy” or “B.Sc. Govt/Pub. Admin.”
Closing Date
Completed
online Application Forms are to be returned to the above not later than four
(4) weeks from the date of this publication. Application Forms received after
the expiration date may not be honoured.
Important Notes
a.            
Candidates
are advised, in their own interest, to study the forms or possibly the model
book guide (s) carefully before completing the Application Forms.”
b.           
All
ICEP programmes are for now organized only In the University Campus.
c.            
Attach
photocopy of the online slip and return to the Institute one (1) Passport
Photograph with your name and address boldly written at the back
d.           
Attach
photocopies of all your documents (do not presume that some of the documents
available to you are not relevant when they may be of an added advantage to you
in the admission exercise).
e.            
On
no account will a candidate be offered admission without first and foremost obtaining
application scratch cards and possibly completing it online using the guide.
f.            
Candidates
who are awaiting the result of the immediate past May/June, WAEC or GCE – examinations
are eligible to apply for admission.
g.           
Candidates
who will sit for a May/June or GCE examinations by the time the application
forms are to be processed are not eligible to apply.
