CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION INTO (NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES)
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
Admission will be by entrance examination conducted by the Petroleum Training Institute. Applicants must possess the minimum entry qualifications stated below.
(A) PETROLEUM ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
Mineral Resources Engineering Technology
Petroleum and Natural gas Processing Engineering Technology
Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology and
Industrial Safety and Environmental Technology Programmes.
1. GCE O/Level, WASC or SSCE (WAEC or NECO) with credit passes in four (4) subjects at not more than two sittings, which should include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any one of the following Science Subjects, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Electricity and Metal Work, Plus at least a pass in English Language or
2. National Technical Certificate relevant to the Diploma programme of the application with a credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other related subject plus at least a pass in English Language, or
3. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (4) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering Practice or Metal Work and any other Science or Social Science subject plus a pass in English Language. (ND-Mechanical Engineering Programme only).
4. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (4) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any two Electrical subjects National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (4) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any two Electrical subject plus at least a pass in English Language. (ND – Electrical /Electronic Engineering Technology programme only).
In addition to (i), (ii), and (iii) above, candidate should pass the trade component/subjects relevant to the programme.
1. Successful completion of the one academic year relevant PTI Pre-Diploma Programme.
(B) PETROLEUM MARKETING AND BUSINESS STUDIES TECHNOLOGY (ND)
(1)GCE O/Level, WASC, SSCE (WAEC or NECO) Credit passes in four (4) subject which must include English Language, Mathematics and any two of the following subject such as Economics, Business Methods, Commerce, History, Religious Knowledge, Accounting, Geography, Statistics and Government. At least a pass in Chemistry is compulsory.
(2) National Business Certificate of NABTEB with credit passes in relevant subject. A pass in Chemistry is compulsory.
(3) Successful completion of the one academic year relevant PTI Pre-Diploma programme.
(C) SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (ND)
(1) GCE O/Level, WASC, SSCE (WAEC or NECO) Credit passes in four (4) subject at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics, Chemistry and any two subjects from the following; Physics, Biology, or Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Wood Work and Metal Work, In addition, candidates must possess at least pass grade in Physics, Biology and English Language.
(2) National Technical Certificate in Chemistry Laboratory Technology/Industrial Safety or
(3) Successful completion of the one academic year relevant PTI Pre-Diploma programme.
(D) WELDING AND FABRICATION ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(1) GCE O/Level, WASC, SSCE (WAEC or NECO) Credit passes in four (4) subject at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any one of the following subjects, Technical Drawing, Biology or Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Basic Electronics, Metal Work Wood Work, Geography, Economics, Plus at least a pass in English Language or
(2)National Technical Certificate (NTC) Examination in Welding and Fabrication Craft Practice with credit passes in Mathematics, Welding Technology, Welding and Fabrication Practices, Technical Drawing or Integrated Science and at least a pass in English Language.
(3)National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (4) subjects which should include Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, Welding Practice, and any other Science or Social Science subject plus at least a pass in English Language or
(4)Successful completion of the one academic year relevant PTI Pre-Diploma programme.
