In accordance with the University’s Enabling Law,
the Governing Council of Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo
hereby announces the need for appointment of a Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and
University Librarian and invites applications from suitably qualified
candidates for the positions.
Wesley University of Science and Technology is a
licensed private University with the core value of seeking excellence,
intellectual freedom of expression, integrity and high moral values. The mission
of the University is to provide the enabling environment for effective teaching
and research in cutting-edge Science and Technology for sustainable
development. The goals and aspiration of the Wesley University of Science and
Technology, Ondo are to produce self-reliant and responsible citizens and
graduates with the right perception of the needs of the society. The University
commenced academic activities in 2008.
For the posts, the University seeks candidates with vision, proven
academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private
and public life. The right candidates should also have ability to develop
linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the
University, command respect and engender cooperation and loyalty of staff and
students of the University. All candidates must also be proficient in
Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
a)
APPOINTMENT OF VICE-CHANCELLOR
The Position
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and
Academic Officer of the University and ex-officio Chairman of the Senate and
Member of the Council. He/She shall be responsible to Council for general
maintaining and promotion of the efficiency and good order of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor may exercise powers as may be necessary or expedient to
ensure that the provisions of the Law and Statue, Ordinances and Regulations of
the University are observed.
The Person:
The Vice-Chancellor must possess a good honours
degree from a recognized University. He should be able to drive the vision of
the University and should be a proven manager of human and material resources.
The candidate should:
Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of a
Professor of not less than ten (10) years’ experience on the rank, with ability
to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University;
Be able to command the respect of the national and
international academic communities through his/her track records;
Possess a clear vision for the development of the
University and the realization of its mission;
Demonstrate interpersonal and ream building skills
and the ability to strengthen the bridges between staff, students, other
members of the University community and the University’s stakeholders.
Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to
attract funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the
University;
Enjoy excellent physical and mental health; and have
demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local and
international government and non-governmental agencies.
Terms and
Condition of Service
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single
tenure of five (5) years on such terms and conditions as may be specified in
the letter of appointment. The remuneration package is comparable to what
obtains in Federal Universities and as approved from time to time by the Governing
Council of the University. Candidate will be entitled to the privileges,
benefits and associated prerequisites as are obtainable in the Nigerian
University System.

Vitae (CV). The CV must present candidate’s name in full, date and place of
birth, marital status, nationality, educational institutions attended with
dates and academic qualifications obtained as well as professional
qualifications (if any).
ii) Each application should include the names and
addresses of three (3) referees. Applicants should advise each Referee to
forward a sealed confidential report on candidate’s character, • academic and
managerial competencies. The envelope should be marked Post of Vice- Chancellor: Referee’s Report.
iii) Each application should include twenty (20)
copies of the applicant’s Vision for the University in the next five (5) years.

b)  APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRAR AND UNIVERSITY
LIBRARIAN
1.            REGISTRAR
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer
of the University responsible to the Vice- Chancellor for the day-to-day
administrative work of the University. The Registrar is the Secretary to
Council, Senate, Convocation and Congregation and other statutory bodies as
defined by the Enabling Law of the University. Candidate for the post must demonstrate
evidence of strong administrative and managerial qualities.
Qualifications
& Experience:
Candidate must possess a good honours degree from a
recognized University. He/She must have minimum of fifteen (15) years
post-qualification experience, at least ten (10) of which must be in a
University or comparable institution and must have attained the Deputy
Registrar level. Higher degrees in Administration or Management as well as Membership
of relevant professional bodies will be an advantage.
2.            UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
The University Librarian shall be the academic head
of the University Library. He/She shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor
for the development of the University library system including the Main
Library, College and Departmental Libraries.
Qualifications
& Experience
Candidate must possess a good honours Degree with a
minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Library Science. Masters and
Doctorate Degrees in Library or Information Science or related field from a
recognized University will be added advantage. Candidate must also have at
least fifteen (15) years post-qualification, full time, cognate experience in
the University or similar system, the last five of which must be in the high
management position of not below the rank of a Deputy University Librarian. A
strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications
both in quality and quantum in reputable International and National Journals is
required.
